This STSM aims to investigate the practical use of simulation-optimisation frameworks for robust multi-modal transportation planning under uncertainty using international case scenarios as benchmarks. The planned activities include developing a joint research agenda focused on uncertainty-aware benchmarking and simulation-optimisation. The group will run a three-day collaborative workshop to investigate how two representative evolutionary algorithms, already available within the ROAR-NET community, can support robust decision-making in multi-modal transportation systems under uncertainty, and adapting benchmarking guidelines. An outline of a conference paper will be developed and research plan for long-term collaboration between the British University in Egypt and Robert Gordon University will be discussed to support future joint research, publications, and funding applications.
